Hello! I’m Aileen. It’s pronounced Eileen. I study Marketing (really interesting) and Finance (a tad challenging) at the University of Strathclyde. I like to think I’m a bit like Shrek describes ogres to Donkey, as in I have layers and it takes time to really get to know me. Although I would prefer the cake analogy rather than onions, because “everybody loves cake”, whereas onions “make you cry”! Anyway, I enjoy surprising people a bit, and I think this sums up pretty well how I’d like to come across:
You can find out lots more about me and my thoughts on the rest of the blog, as well as observations on Glasgow, student, life and whatever else (relevant or irrelevant) pops into my head. [In case you’re thinking this sounds a bit narcissistic, the blog is named after me, so what were you expecting 😉 It combines some of my favourite things/topics, myself and writing. Just kidding. I mean it allows me to write freely for my anonymous audience- hi Dad! – but I will try to talk about other things too. Though they may be inspired by things that happen to me..]
5 things you should know about me that are a big part of my identity and personality:
•My name is pronounced ‘I’-leen not ‘A’-leen
•I come across as quite reserved and shy. I also seem fairly mature, but I’m still a child at heart
•I have 3 nationalities
•I’m left handed
•I love fencing (This tends to surprise people. See above!)
Please explore, and let me know what you think or if there is anything in particular you’d like to read about, e.g. questions about Glasgow, Strathclyde or student life in general. I’ll do my best to answer or find out for you!
(By the way, there is a tumblr blog with the same name, but that is written by some other Aileen who sounds very different from me)
